Day 19 – Eden
February 26, 2016
G'Day Mate How You Going?
Today we did Eden. We had a short guided tour and then some free time to see a koala up close, wander among kangaroos, and touch a 12 foot Python snake. Then we visited the Eden Killer Whale Museum. Eden was established as the first shoreside whaling station on mainland Australia and it became famous for its killer whales. In the 1920s and ’30s, Twofold Bay and the area around Eden were home for a group of killer whales led by a large whale known to locals as Tom.
“This is what travel is about. We strain to renew our capacity for wonder, to shock ourselves into astonishment once again.” – Shana Alexander
