Epilogue July 4, 2021
We took a bus ride around Martha’s Vineyard. No one on the ship was impressed. I figured there were some secret parts of the island that they did not show us. Okay, so now I have been there.
The next day was Provincetown. I wish I had researched it as much as I did Plimoth. There is a wonderful Pilgrim Museum under the Pilgrim Monument. We could have walked there but it was 59 degrees and rain. We did take a trolley ride around town, but it did not stop at the museum. It probably also had something to do with this was the last day of the trip and I think we were all tired. I have viewed the museum virtually, so next time I will make sure I see the museum. The trolley did take us out to where the Mayflower first landed, stayed for five weeks, and where they wrote the Mayflower Compact. There was no fresh water there or good soil for planting, so the Pilgrims sailed on to Plimoth.
The ship was suffering start up pains and keeping workers was difficult. Almost every day some staff left, some got sea sick, some thought the work was too hard, and some found the stimulus money was just much easier. It seems to be a sign of the times. I must say the food, when you got it, was absolutely delicious. Some of the desserts were beyond delicious. My prime rib was great and how can one beat lobster in some form almost every meal. It was nice to get away.
