A marvelous day! We saw the Giza Plateau. The plateau is the last remaining Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Three Great Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerionos. We saw the famous Abu-al-Hol, commonly referred to as the Sphinx. Tom rode a camel through the Great Sahara. By the way, it is not The Great Sahara Desert because Sahara means desert, so it would be like saying The Great Desert. You can share that with the teachers at school if they are interested. I always referred to it as The Great Sahara Desert, so I was not teaching that geography correctly. We traveled to Memphis the capital of upper and Lower Egypt for 5,000 years. It is the site of the first pyramid. We got a good glimpse of how people live in Egypt, and I am not moving here any time soon. Our Egyptian guide is working on his doctorate in Egyptology. He is wonderful.

This will be a short email because we are leaving for the airport at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. This is not a vacation for relaxing. We are headed for Luxor to take a river boat down the Nile. We hope they have internet access. Love to all back home, Holly
